Lissa Holland

About Lissa

From an early age I began doing pencil sketches of people and places. My artistic talent was encouraged during my primary and secondary schooling. Later, as a component of post-graduate nursing education, I studied the use of creative arts in a therapeutic setting.

I like to work with a wide range of media types depending on how I wish to interpret my ideas.

Living in the different areas of New Zealand, Otago, Rotorua, Fiordland and Canterbury and having a love of the outdoors, tramping and gardening has added to my appreciation of nature and increased my desire to capture it’s beauty.

In 2016 and 2018 I received merit awards for paintings exhibited at the Arrowtown Autumn Festival Art exhibition. Fiordland Italian restaurant La Toscana commissioned a 10×2 metre fresco for the wall of their dining room in 2014. In 2010 St Johns launched a rose ‘Luminis’, propagated by world renowned rosarian Bob Mathews, to celebrate 125 years of service in New Zealand which I was commissioned to paint. Dame Trelise Cooper then used my artwork as the foundation for a design to create a silk scarf used for fund raising.

I enjoy being able to work from home in my studio on our farm.

Original art is available for sale by visiting my online gallery. Studio visits can be arranged by phone on 03 315 8686, mobile +64 211805997 or email lissa@lissahollandart.co.nz
